Extra! Extra! New Announcement!!!!
Enjoy Havanna in Ireland. The Irish Experience has just reserved spaces for the Cuban open air extravaganza at Charles Fort Kinsale on July 12th during the Kinsale Arts Week.

Brace yourselves for an explosion of Cuban sounds as the battlements of Charles Fort reverberate to the after-shocks of the global phenomenon that is Ska Cubano and El Guayabero, the band fronted by Faustino Oramas of Buena Vista Social Club fame.

Famous the world over for their rambunctious live shows, Ska Cubano have played at everything from the Nobel Prize celebrations in Copenhagen to the legendary Glastonbury Festival in England and the Barbican in London, where they performed with Ska band Madness.

Ska Cubano’s style is bawdy and infectious, a veritable visual and musical feast created by 12 unforgettable performers who cook up a huge, über-rhythmic sound with their exotic mix of Jamaican mento, calypso and ska, blended with rock steady and roots reggae, and sprinkled with generous dollops of Cuban mambo, rumba, salsa and son.

Helping to get the party started – and also helping to turn up the heat at this one-night-only extravaganza – will be teams of salsa dancers and teachers, all waiting to show you the right moves.

Travel Tips

Money:
Best to use an ATM card. If you lose your wallet, you can always replace the card. If you run out, Dad or Mom can top up.
Tips to parents: top up the account each week. This teaches your son or daughter to budget.

Clothing:
Bring enough for one week. There are laundry facilities available on the university campus.
Dress as you would for summer here but bring a light waterproof windbreaker and sweater.
Bring some semi-formal wear for visits to the theatre and for the end of tour banquet.
Bring a swimsuit and towel as there will be opportunities for supervised swimming.

Toiletries
They are cheaper to buy here, so bring enough for the month.

Batteries
Also cheaper here, so bring a good supply.

Laptops
Not necessary as we have lots of internet access on the university campus.

Cell-phones
It is possible to buy SIM cards in Ireland, but make sure that you can install them in your phone. Check with your manufacturer. There are phones in the apartment.

Electrical Devices
Electrical Current: 220 Volts. If you are bringing a hair dryer, you will need either one that is adaptable to that voltage or some sort of transformer. The wall plugs are also different so an adapter is needed. These can be purchased at a Future Shop or at the airport.

School Supplies
Bring a pen, paper and binder; everything else is provided
